What to Expect as a Beginner

A typical beginner piano journey at Melodious Piano Studio milestone by milestone.

Lessons 1–4

First Notes & Hand Position

You learn the names of the keys, correct hand and sitting position, and play your very first simple melodies using one hand. The focus is comfort and curiosity.

Lessons 5–12

Both Hands & Note Reading

You begin reading music on the staff, coordinating both hands, and playing simple pieces hands together. Basic rhythm patterns and time signatures are introduced.

Month 4–6

Technique & Repertoire Building

Your technique grows steadily finger independence, scales, and dynamics. You build a small repertoire of pieces you are proud to play and can perform for family.

Month 6–12

ABRSM Grade 1 Ready

With consistent practice, many beginner students reach ABRSM Grade 1 readiness within their first year a real milestone that marks the end of the beginner stage.
